Online Teaching- Meghadoota Study Centres:
Achalabharathi in partnership with ILID started online teaching for children in rural areas in the year 2013. This project was named Meghadoota. The highlights of the project are:
· The main aim of Meghadoota is to enable children in rural areas to learn from good teachers in cities, using the latest technology.
· Meghadoota Study Centres are after-school Study Centres.
· Classes in 3 subjects, Maths, Science and English are conducted by teachers in Bangalore. The teachers use Big Blue Button/ Webex to teach the rural children.
· Classes are conducted between 5 and 7.30 pm everyday.
· Meghadoota Study Centres have laptops and Internet connection to facilitate online-teaching.
· Facilitators are present during the classes. They help monitor the classes, take care of any problems with regard to the computer or connectivity and also ensure that the classes run smoothly.
· Facilitators also conduct offline classes, where they check the homework and also ensure that the children are making the best use of the teaching.
· Periodic tests are conducted to monitor the improvement in children.
· Target group- Classes 1 to 4(Group 1) and 5 to 8(Group 2)
· The centre is also equipped with a good library consisting of story books for children in English and Kannada. It also contains VCD’s for children, dictionaries and Atlas books.
